Location: Cité de l’ArchitectureArtistic Director: Bill Gaytten Inspiration: A collection inspired by the film “Picnic at Hanging Rock” by Joan Lindsay.Collection: A collection that mixes men and women. A very romantic women in a frilled, lace and satin dress. A play on transparency for delicate silhouettes. We see the “Gazette” print on suit trousers.Focus on Victorian dresses with gigot sleeves and wide trousers accessorized with lace, warmed up with short jackets.Note: Big, laced military boots and straw hats by Stephen Jones.Interview with Bill Gaytten:The inspiration was a movie called “Picnic at Hanging Rock”, it was made in the 70s, and it was based on a true story about some Victorian school girls that go on a school trip, on a picnic and three of them disappear, and they never solved what happened to them or where they went, that was the inspiration.I thought the film was very beautiful and the girls were gorgeous in it, but I wanted to do it sort of a bit more up to date and contemporary, hence the sort of paramilitary boots, and it’s just a bit more now. You know, it is Victorian inspired but I think it’s pretty cool as well. There is a lot of transparency, but not everything. There is a lot of lace insets, it’s very complicated the dress making this season I mean it usually is with me, but it’s quite intricate and the boys have quite a bit of sort of dirty denim, the boys are sort of more rough.
