Woolrich releases FW19 capsule with Beams Plus

Woolrich has collaborated with Beams Plus for a special capsule collection in honor of the Japanese retailer's 20th anniversary.

The capsule, designed by Daiki Suzuki, was inspired by Woolrich's archival “big game hunting" apparel and features Beams Plus' spin on Woolrich's classic hunting check and original hunting apparel.

The collection features a coat, a jacket, pants, a vest and a hat, all in a uniform dark-colored check.

“My approach to the project was to bring back the Woolrich woolen mills brand,” said Suzuki, who worked for the brand from 2006 to 2010. "I thought it would be interesting if I came up with designs as if the Woolrich Woolen Mills brand was still existing today. I worked on some iconic items like the cape shoulder lumberjack coat, the hunting breeches, the railroad vest and the mackinaw coat. Not just staying with the authentic details but also transform it into a modern fit with a new interpretation for Beams Plus.”

Woolrich was acquired last September by L-Gam, a Luxembourg-based investment firm with ties to the princely family of Liechtenstein, and recently announced plans to become a global brand at its Pitti Uomo installation. 20 percent of the brand's capital is also held by Japanese sportswear group Goldwin Inc
