WGSN launches new platform

Published
Jul 22, 2014

The UK B2B company WGSN, which purchased its New York-based competitor Stylesight in November 2013, will launch a new common platform on August 4th combining features from both sites into one new “super-platform”. The global launch marks the "culmination of two years of investment in innovation, content acquisitions and human resources,” estimated by WGSN at more than 50 million pounds.

The future platform will offer its more than 75,000 users general and specific content from its branches (Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, London, New York, etc.), which daily publish tailored content (trend forecasting, coverage of new collections, analysis, etc.) in five languages.

The group WGSN has taken the opportunity to recruit a new director of global content, Carla Buzasi, who led the successful launch of the Huffington Post in the UK and has received several awards for her work at both Condé Nast as well as during her time as online editor for the magazine Marie Claire.

"The newly created position will help to boost content strategy at WGSN, and will improve the customer experience,” said Steve Newbold, global managing director of WGSN.

WGSN’s parent company, Top Right Group (also parent to the company Emap, Ed), made three acquisitions in 2013 to boost its international presence: Educar and Mindset in Brazil and Stylesight in the United States. In 2013, the international business generated 43% of Top Right Group’s turnover.

In July 2013, WGSN purchased certain online assets of the Mudpie group, which specializes in childrenswear.
