The LVMH Prize opens applications for its sixth edition

Published
Dec 17, 2018

"Join the future of fashion": that's LVMH's call for promising talents from around the world to participate in the sixth edition of its fashion competition, applications for which opened on Monday 17 December. Aspiring designers hoping to follow in the footsteps of 2017 winner Marine Serre; 2018 winner Masayuki Ino, founder of gender-neutral label Doublet; or South Korean designer Rok Hwang, whose Rokh label received this year's Special Prize, have until 4 February to send in their complete applications.

Applications can be made exclusively through the dedicated LVMH Prize website, lvmhprize.com. Candidates must be between 18 and 40 years old and must have made at least two ready-to-wear collections, menswear, womenswear or unisex. The winner will take away 300,000 euros and a year of mentoring with the luxury group.

For the competition's sixth edition, LVMH will, as usual, also be giving awards to three young graduates. Freshly graduated designers can participate in the competition if they received their diploma in 2019 and have created at least six original outfits. They can sign up until 15 May on the same website. The three winning candidates will be given the opportunity to join the creative team of one of LVMH's brands for a year and will receive a grant of 10,000 euros.

Launched in 2014, the LVMH Prize aims to support new talents and support their development. Followed closely by fashion industry professionals, the competition is a great trampoline for emerging talents, just like the ANDAM competition and the Hyères Festival prize. Over the space of five years, the prize's popularity has continued to grow, as demonstrated by the level of participation in 2018, when 20 semi-finalists were selected among 1,300 candidates from 90 countries.
