The ANDAM announces seven finalists for 2014

Published
May 23, 2014

The ANDAM 2014 has started to take shape. The shortlist has just been unveiled just weeks before the grand jury makes its final judgment in early July. Only one of the seven final designers will be awarded the Grand Prix, which includes a 250,000-euro grant. To recall, Alexandre Mattiussi and his label Ami took the prize in 2013.

The competitors include the Italian designer Fausto Puglisi, who has served as creative director of Ungaro since September 2012 besides heading his own eponymous label. Rad Hourani, born in Canada to Jordanian and Syrian parents, has also been named for his unisex couture, as has his compatriot Steven Tai, awarded the Chloe Award at Hyères in 2012, debuting his very own collection in January 2013.

Also having appeared at the Hyères Festival, the Belgian Jean-Paul Lespagnard will try his luck at ANDAM for the first time, while competing at the same time for the Woolmark Prize 2014/2015. Aurélien Arbet and Jeremiah Egri, the duo behind Etudes Studio confirm the rise of their brand by figuring among ANDAM’s finalists.

There are two female designers for 2014: Yiqing Yin and Iris Van Herpen. Both have made the cut for the second time. Van Herpen was a finalist last year, while Yin earned a spot on the list in 2011. Yiqing Yin did not leave empty-handed that year, having taken the Prix des Premières Collections.

This year, three finalists have been named for the Prix des Premières Collections, which includes a 75,000-euro grant. Coperni, the brand headed by the French duo Sebastian Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant, will compete against Marie-Christine Statz for Gauchère and Aude Castéja for Monograph.
