Sidney Toledano has been elected president of the French Haute Couture Union Chamber. The CEO of LVMH Fashion Group, already a member of the organisation's executive committee, succeeds Ralph Toledano. Despite having the same surname, the two are not related.

On November 21, the Haute Couture Union Chamber held its AGM at the headquarters of the French Haute Couture and Fashion Federation in Paris, and elected a new executive committee. The committee is composed of six members, Chanel, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, Maison Margiela and Schiaparelli, which were all re-elected.

“You know how attached I am to haute couture and the values it embodies. I formally pledge, as did my predecessor Ralph Toledano, to defend and promote these values. Together with the committee, for many years we have contributed to the growth of and promoted excellence in haute couture, and we will continue to do so with conviction and determination,” said Sidney Toledano in a statement.

Sidney Toledano, 71, is a graduate of the Ecole Centrale in Paris. He began his career as a management consultant at Nielsen before joining Kickers and later Lancel – as CEO – in the 1980s. In 1994, he began his stint at Christian Dior, rising to the position of CEO in 1998. Twenty years later, in 2018, he assumed the role of CEO for the LVMH group’s fashion division, overseeing Celine, Givenchy, Loewe, Pucci, Kenzo, Marc Jacobs, Patou and Rossimoda.

A highly experienced executive, Sidney Toledano was also appointed chairman of the board of the French Fashion Institute this year. He is also a director of the Colbert Committee and a member of the executive committee of the French Haute Couture and Fashion Federation.
