Roland Mouret launches first new-era collection, campaign starring Laetitia Casta

London-based Roland Mouret has launched its Resort 23 collection with a high-profile face fronting its new campaign — French actress Laetitia Casta.

Casta was photographed in Paris by Harley Weir in a series of “sensuous and provocative images, and short films, embracing the attitude of the Roland Mouret woman”.

It’s a significant moment for the label as the Resort collection is its first since its acquisition last December by SP Collection, the company behind the successful Self-Portrait brand.

It said the new offer “embraces iconic silhouettes, sharp shapes and transitional separates that celebrate the female form, with a new focus on modern wardrobing”.

Mouret acknowledged that “this is a very special collection for me” and said that to create it, he’d looked to his past “in order to influence a newer and modern approach to dressing”.

And he said that as the campaign “signals an important new chapter for the house, I could only think of one woman who could transmit everything—the heritage, future, strength and vulnerability—together seamlessly. Laetitia Casta is an icon for
so many deserved reasons, but I am most drawn to her depth of spirit and real understanding of what it means to be a woman”.

The collection debuts online on Wednesday at the label’s “newly enhanced direct-to-consumer e-commerce site” Rolandmouuret.com, which delivers globally and through an international network of retailers including Bergdorf Goodman, Harrods, Matchesfashion, MyTheresa, Neiman Marcus, Net-A-Porter, Lane Crawford and Luisa Via Roma.

Han Chong, founder and CEO of SP Collection, added: “When we acquired the Roland Mouret fashion house as the first brand in the SP Collection Group, one of the first things we wanted to do was build a visual language that was reflective of the way the collections speak to a modern customer.

“We’re all so proud of this debut collection as part of the group—it’s been a very poignant one, which reflects on the past to inform the brand’s glowing future. We hope customers around the world—both old and new—will be excited by this new phase of Roland Mouret.”
