Parisian label Sézane opens concession at Selfridges
Last September, Parisian womenswear label Sézane opened its first 'Appartement' flat/store in the UK, located in London's Notting Hill district. On March 3, Sézane added another retail presence in the UK’s capital, opening a concession at Selfridges in Oxford Street. The 90-square-metre retail corner features all of the label's permanent ready-to-wear and accessories collections.
Last February, Sézane unveiled a capsule collection called Grand Je(u), dedicated to ceremonial and evening wear, and also a new jewellery line. On March 21, it will launch a bio cotton sweatshirt under the charity label Demain, developed in collaboration with Spanish brand Bobo Choses. The profits from the sweatshirt’s sales will go to the UN’s Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, also known as UN Women.
Sézane was founded in 2013 by Corentin Petit, Morgane Sezalory and her husband Thibault Lougnon. Since last June, US investment fund General Atlantic holds a stake in the label.
Initially selling online only, Sézane now operates stores - known as 'appartements' - in Paris, Aix-en-Provence, New York and London. In addition, it has a retail corner at Parisian department store Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche, and now one at Selfridges. Also in Paris, the label has two 'conciergeries' (where customers can pick up products ordered online), the Demain charity shop and a store for the menswear brand created by the Sézane team, called Octobre Editions. And this is not all: in autumn 2019, Sézane will open another 'appartement' in Paris.
