New Look moves into pre-owned with Re-Fashion

New Look has “reinforced its ongoing commitment to circularity” by launching a partnership with Re-Fashion. For the value fashion retailer — which is one of the biggest womenswear vendors in the UK — it’s a first step into the pre-loved fashion market.

New Look

It’s aiming to “offer its customers a simple and easy way of extending the lifecycle of unwanted or unused clothes” and help address the more-than-350,000 tonnes of clothing from the UK ending up in landfill each year.

The new partnership works by customers visiting Re-Fashion to request a donation bag (that typically holds up to 12 items), which is sent to them in the post. When they’ve decluttered their wardrobe, they can drop their bag at their nearest Collect+ destination for free. The unwanted items are then listed on the Re-Fashion website.

Customers using the service will also be offered 30% off any purchase on Re-Fashion, while New Look, in a deal with charity Tree-Nation, will also plant a tree for every bag donated.

Sue Fairley, Head of Sustainability at New Look, said: “We recognise that, as a broad-appeal fashion retailer, we have an important responsibility to both our customers and to wider society, to consider the lifecycle of the products we sell, from design stage to end of life.”

This venture is part of the retailer’s ‘Kind to the Core initiative’, which it said is “a key pillar of the brand’s transformation strategy”.
