Net-A-Porter MD Brandolese exits after streamlining

Net-A-Porter’s managing director Nicola Brandolese has left his role at the Richemont-owned luxury e-tailer after little over a year at the helm.

Richemont’s Yoox Net-A-Porter unit confirmed his departure to Fashionnetwork.com with the seasoned luxury executive set to leave at an unspecified date. The change is understood to be due to a streamlining of ways of working.

Brandolese joined the company last September as it added some heavyweight experience to its senior management line-up and announced a number of top-level hires. He was reporting directly to the group’s luxury division president Alison Loehnis.

He was in day-to-day charge of the running of YNAP’s flagship high-end webstore and was tasked with driving Net-A-Porter’s global expansion, running its commercial relationships with brands and driving its commercial strategy. Loehnis remains at the helm of Net-A-Porter today.

Any plans Brandolese had would have been interrupted by the pandemic. While online sellers were able to continue operating when the UK announced its lockdown in March, the company did shut its operations for a while as it made them Covid-safe.

Brandolese had joined from his role as CEO at footwear brand Giuseppe Zanotti. He had also been head of retail at Italian eyewear maker Luxottica and had worked with Fendi.
