Menswear retailer Celio appoints Gaëlle de la Fosse as general manager

A woman is now charge of Celio. The French menswear retailer has hired Gaëlle de la Fosse, a partner of the Roland Berger consulting firm, as General Manager. Since the departure of former general manager Guillaume Motte in early 2018, the post had been occupied by the co-founder and president of Celio, Laurent Grosman, who retains the role of president after de la Fosse’s appointment.

Gaëlle de la Fosse, 44, will start in her new role on February 11. It is the first time that de la Fosse, a fashion and lifestyle industry expert and a political science graduate with an MBA from Paris' HEC business school, assumes an operational role within a brand. For 20 years, she worked as a consultant specialising in business model evolution, initially at Capgemini and since 2009 at Roland Berger. She has worked alongside Celio for many years.

Her mission at the menswear chain founded in 1985 will be “to lead the company’s transformation and accelerate its digitalisation,” wrote Celio in a press release.

Celio is present in 50 countries with 1,100 stores and, like many other retail groups, it needs to transform its business model and fully embrace e-commerce and connected solutions as part of its expansion strategy. With this in mind, Olivier Carrette was appointed as Celio’s digital and omni-channel director last May.
