Marie Claire ends U.S. print edition

Women’s magazine Marie Claire is ending its US print edition with its summer 2021 issue being its last.

After 27 years in circulation, the print edition of the publication covering women’s fashion, beauty, career, and more, will shutter and the title will go digital with the exception of special issues. 

The news was first sprung on subscribers with a letter sent by mail notifying them that their summer 2021 issue would be the magazine's last, according to the New York Post. 

Marie Claire switched hands in May when it was sold by Hearst to British publisher Future Media. It was originally founded in 1937 in France and sold to Hearst in 1994.

“I have some news to share: After the summer 2021 issue, Marie Claire will no longer be available as an annual subscription but will instead focus on its vibrant digital platforms– Marieclaire.com, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.,” Bazaar editor in chief Samira Nasr, wrote to subscribers. 

For print subscribers with an annual subscription, they will begin receiving Harper's Bazaar

The American fashion magazine already started slowing down its print editions among the Covid-19 pandemic. Hearst quietly reduced its frequency from 11 to 7 times a year in 2020.
