The shortlisted designers for this year's prestigious LVMH Prize have been announced.

A total of 21 designers from all over the world have been selected by the star-studded judging panel to showcase their collections on March 2 in Paris, making for a truly international shortlist.

The labels include contemporary menswear label Angus Chiang, known for its designs inspired by Taiwanese culture, and Dilara Findikoglu, a London based designer of Turkish origin. Glaswegian designer Charles Jeffrey, whose London brand Charles Jeffrey Loverboy encompasses a fashion label and a cult club night, also features in the line-up.

Irish designer Richard Malone, who lives and works in London, has been shortlisted, as have Frenchman Antonin Tron's brand Atlein and US-based duo Abdul Abasi and Greg Rosborough's label 'Abasi'. London designer Molly Goddard, who won the Emerging Talent award at the 2016 Fashion Awards, New Zealander Maggie Marilyn, Danish talent Cecilie Bahnsen and French-Belgian creative Marine Serre have also made the grade.

The additional shortlisted brands include 'Ambush', a Tokyo-based jewelry line; South Korean menswear brand 'Blindness' from JiSun and KyuYong; London-based Daniel W.Fletcher; Berlin-based label GMBH; Russian-born New York-based visual artist Jahnkoy; Australian knitwear designer Katherine Mavridis; Japanese designer
Kozaburo Akasaka; menswear designer Martine Rose; Palomo Spain by Spanish designer Alejandro Gómez Palomo, and 'Sulvam' by Japanese designer Teppei Fujita. Nabil El-Nayal, the designer behind ready-to-wear brand Nabil Nayal, who was shortlisted for the prestigious LVMH Prize in 2015, completes the list.

The eventual winner will be awarded a grant of €300,000 and 12 months of mentorship from the group in order to help the designer grow his or her brand. The competition will culminate with an award ceremony in June.
