Charo Izquierdo, the director of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid, has been appointed as new director of fashion and beauty fairs at IFEMA. She succeeds Jaime de la Figura, who has been promoted to director of international expansion at the exhibition venue.

Charo Izquierdo is Ifema's new director of fashion and beauty fairs - Ifema

Izquierdo will lead the fashion-focused trade fair Momad Metropolis, the accessories and footwear fair Momad Shoes; Salon Look, the international image and integral aesthetic exhibition, Salon Look; Salon Chile; 1001 Bodas, and 1001 Bodas Premium. Despite the leadership change, Ifema announced that its dedicated sales teams will remain in place.

Charo Izquierdo will combine her new responsibilities with her current job as director of MBFWMadrid and MBFWIbiza, a position she has held since in November 2016.

According to the Madrid events venue, the appointment is part of a series of organisational changes at the top of the business aimed at “strengthening its position across an array of sectors.”

Meanwhile, Jaime de la Figuera, who has headed the fashion and beauty events department at Ifema since September 2015, will become the new director of international expansion, with overseeing the areas and projects linked to the internationalisation strategy that has driven Ifema since 2013. He will have responsibility for building new projects outside Spain, as well as collaborations and partnerships with leading operators and venues in the world.

De la Figuera succeeds Santiago Quiroga, who will move to the new quality and corporate social responsibility division at Ifema. There, Quiroga will work on the areas and projects linked to the transformational process that Ifema is undergoing, which are strategic to the company’s development, as well as implementation of processes and systems.

The changes will help Ifema reach its strategic goal of building international relationships.
