Heineken heiress takes stake in celeb jewellery brand Missoma

Published

Dutch-English billionaire Charlene de Carvalho-Heineken has become a part-owner of British jewellery brand Missoma, after acquiring up to a 50% stake in the business.

She also owns a 25% controlling interest in one of the world’s largest brewers, Heineken International, which she inherited from her late father.

Her interest in Missoma comes after the label, popular with celebrities including Kendall Jenner, Jennifer Lopex and Gigi Hadid, doubled its turnover to £12 million in 2018.

The Heineken heiress is listed as a person with significant control in a Companies House filing, which means she owns more than 25% of the brand but less than 50%.

Both Missoma and representatives for de Carvalho-Heineken declined requests for comment from The Telegraph that uncovered the stake.

Missoma founder Marisa Hordern is also listed as a person with significant control. She founded the label in 2008, paving the way for a new jewellery category that sits between fine jewellery and fashion jewellery.

The demi-fine offering has resonated with young consumers, who are happy to pay about £100 for quality, trend-led earrings and up to £150 for coin necklaces.
