Hanesbrands opens a major factory in Vietnam

Published
Dec 2, 2014

The American group has inaugurated a new 915,000 ft² factory that can produce up to 67 million units in the district of Kim Dong, in the north of Vietnam. The factory will be dedicated to the fabrication of woven boxers and bras, two categories of products made in this country for the first time.

This production centre, that required a 45 million dollar investment, complements the two already existing Hanesbrands factories in Vietnam, which together produce 400 million units per year.

A specialist in underwear and activewear (Hanes, Champion, Playtex, Bali, Maidenform, Wonderbra, etc.), the group ended its third quarter on 27 September with a 17% increase in sales (1.4 billion dollars/873 million pounds). A logical increase given its acquisition of Maidenform less than a year ago. The group also bought DBApparel (Dim) just two months ago.
