Gymshark to take over J Crew spot on Regent Street

Published
Dec 2, 2021

In a further sign of just how big and important the Gymshark brand has become in just a short period of time, news emerged on Wednesday that the label is to open its first flagship store in a prime spot on London's Regent Street next summer.

It has signed a 10-year lease for the giant flagship that was formally the London home of J Crew. The 18,000 sq ft location makes Gymshark one of a number of brands keen to join the line-up on Regent Street with recent openings also including Bally and Fabletics, with Uniqlo/theory also set to open there.

And just like the recent Fabletics opening, the store is intended to be as much a community space as a shop that sells products, uniting the brand’s community that has built up on social media and via its online offer.

The company will certainly have plenty of space to make the new shop as experiential as it can and as well as straightforward retail, it’s planning to include events, community hangouts, workout studios and other features in the location. Full details will be available by next spring.

Founder and CEO Ben Francis has promised that the store will not be “like anything you have seen before” and that shoppers should expect an “unforgettable experience”.
