Gymshark names new marketing chief from Very Group

Published

Gymshark has a new marketing supremo with the company appointing Carly O’Brien, who had been Very Group’s CMO, as its VP of marketing. She’ll report to the firm’s international president Niran Chana.

The rapidly growing gymwear and athleisure brand is ramping up its expansion and for a growth company, marketing is a crucial area of operations.

O'Brien had been with online retail giant Very Group for three years and has an impressive track record in non-fashion marketing as well, having worked at Virgin Money and NatWest.

In her new position she’ll be responsible for driving brand awareness along with new global strategies for customer engagement, as well as introducing a new regional marketing model.

Her arrival comes after the company has made a number of senior hires with key managers joining from other major names. They include Danielle Petesic joining from Lululemon as chief product officer and ex-Burberry manager John Douglas taking up the reins of the company's tech ops in the chief technology officer role.
