In 2006 sales turnover of the clothes and football boots′ sector increased by 13% in Europe*

Total market sales turnover therefore increased to 1.7 billion Euros. An increase principally lead by the sales boost of English and German national football shirts which respectively brought in 200 million and 50 million Euros. Sales of France, Italy and Spain’s team shirts increased but more moderately.

According to the 2008 Global Sports Market Estimate from NPD group, the global football market was estimated at 8.4 billion Euros, of which 380 million derived from France, nearly 1.2 billion from Great Britain and 662 million from Germany.
