Depop COO Rose exits in restructure

Published

Depop’s COO has exited the business as part of a management team restructuring. Dominic Rose had taken the role in June 2019 having originally joined the company the previous year as a consultant.

He said of his departure in a LinkedIn post: “After an epic two-and-a-half years that has seen explosive growth, expansion of the team from 85 to over 400 and a global pandemic, I’m sad to be leaving the business following a decision to restructure the management team.”

And he added: “However I am grateful to have the chance to now dedicate my time to the vaccination programme for the foreseeable future, to have had the chance to work with so many wonderful people that I now call my friends and to have learnt so much about myself, leadership, teams, the power of community to drive change and the responsibilities of technology platforms to create a safe and inclusive internet for all.”

No details about the restructure at the company have been released by Depop.

The peer-to-peer shopping app has indeed seen fast growth in recent periods with demand having doubled during last year’s lockdowns.

And it’s only a few months since the aforementioned staff expansion began. Late last year, it increased its staff numbers and added a quarter in the UK alone to take the British total to 320+. That came after the earlier addition of 60 more people to deal with the increased lockdown demand. It also has staff in its offices in Los Angeles, New York and Sydney.

The company’s growing success has attracted the attention of some big names with the company earlier opening its first retail space in a link-up with Selfridges.
