CQ Studio opens West End pop-up

Published
Apr 28, 2022

What have flax, food waste and algae got in common? They’re all biological sources that can be made into textiles by sustainable fashion research firm CQ Studio.

CQ Studio's biodegradable sequins.

Now consumers will get a chance to see what CQ Studio can achieve with a variety of  regenerative materials via its production systems at a central London pop-up (in Piccadilly Arcade) called 12/12.

The pop-up will become a live studio where the public can watch CQ introduce the many projects it conducts in the field of fashion and innovation.

These include live microalgae growing in bioreactors; natural dye experimentation; Inflaxuation, regeneratively grown flax creates a wide range of flax leather and flax fur alternatives.

There will also be a number of workshops held at the studio for those wishing to take part in the processes.

CQ Studio founder Cassie Quinn said: “I want to demonstrate that fashion can be a powerful force for good and I promise you won’t be disappointed by the exciting textiles we have to share!”

The 12/12 pop-up boutique will play host to a dozen start-ups across 12 months offering them “an opportunity to be part of the London West End’s retail offer”.

It’s an initiative by Westminster City Council, Heart of London Business Alliance, West End landlord GPE, and Appear Here“to showcase a melting pot of sustainable fashion, homeware design and creative brands”.
