Barbour and Laura Ashley collaborate on AW20 range

Published
Jan 28, 2020

Heritage and rural identity meet in a new collaboration between storied British brand Barbour and home and fashion retailer Laura Ashley.

The collection launches at the end of July - Barbour

Launching for Autumn/Winter 2020, the collection pays homage to Laura Ashley’s extensive archive of wildflower floral prints, which have become synonymous with the British brand’s DNA.

The floral prints are brought back to life across a capsule collection of wax jackets, complemented by a range of knitwear, dresses, blouses and accessories.

“We are very excited to be working with Laura Ashley on this womenswear collaboration for Autumn/Winter 20. Both Barbour and Laura Ashley are renowned British heritage brands with a shared love of the countryside,” said Paul Wilkinson, global marketing and commercial director at Barbour.

Vanessa Page, head of fashion at Laura Ashley, added that the collaboration embodies the brands’ “shared values and vision of classics with a twist”.

The concept brings back memories of happier times for Laura Ashley, which has struggled with ever-weaker results in recent years.

The retailer’s once-loved Home Furnishing business is underperforming, and pushed the company into the red last year. Shares in Laura Ashley have slumped by 90% over the past five years, giving it a market value of £23m. The brand was worth more than £250m in 2015.
