Armani appoints Alan Prada to new role of deputy creative director of image

Published
Feb 13, 2021

Alan Prada, editor-in-chief of Harper's Bazaar Italia and Esquire Italia, is joining Armani. Having constructed a career in the Italian fashion press, his role at the brand will be that of deputy director of online and offline image, explained the Maison, further clarifying that this is a newly created position.

Born and raised in Switzerland, Prada first showed an interest in art, before turning to journalism and fashion. Having obtained a master's degree in art history from the University of Geneva, he began working at Elle Italia in 2005. Two years later, he joined American media conglomerate Condé Nast, where Franca Sozzani appointed him to the team tasked with relaunching L'Uomo Vogue. In 2014, he became deputy editor-in-chief of the publication, before being named to the same role at Vogue Italia in 2017.

In late 2019, Prada left Condé Nast for Hearst, where he became editor-in-chief of both Harper's Bazaar Italia, the launch of which he oversaw, and Esquire Italia, where he led  the publication's rebranding efforts.

With this new addition to its organigram, the Armani group is evidently aiming to place more emphasis on its visual identity and create greater coherence between its digital and offline image.
