Anna Sui to design a capsule collection for Macy's

Published

Anna Sui’s eclectic looks will soon be more easily accessible than ever. The designer is teaming up with Macy’s to create a capsule collection, slated to hit stores this September.

Anna Sui

The Anna Sui x INC collection will be a collaboration with Macy’s in-house line, INC International Concepts. Launching in September, the line will be available at 25 Macy’s stores and online. It will follow in the footsteps of Macy’s previous collaborations with high-end designers, such as Karl Lagerfeld, Cynthia Rowley and Giambattista Valli.

Like many American department stores, Macy’s has been struggling in recent months and flagging sales have forced it to close dozens of stores. In the results of the most recent financial quarter, its shares fell 14.5 percent.

The collaboration could prove to be a boon for the department store, as Sui’s brand is already on track to have a successful 2017. In addition to her Macy’s collaboration, this year Sui will also design a home wear collection for PBteen, Pottery Barn’s young adult division. Her work will also be the subject of a retrospective at London’s Fashion and Textile Museum, opening on May 26.

The Anna Sui x INC collection will include both men’s and women’s pieces, and women’s accessories like shoes and handbags. It will feature the eclectic prints and whimsical aesthetic the designer has been known for since launching her brand in 1992.
