Theory women's creative director Lisa Kulson steps down

Theory announced this month the departure of Women’s Creative Director Lisa Kulson, who had served in her role since 2014. She has decided to leave the company to pursue other creative projects.

Lisa Kulson

Kulson first joined Theory in 1997 when the contemporary fashion brand was founded, and left in 2002 to create her namesake label. She later rejoined the company in 2012. The Theory pre-fall 2018 collection marks Kulson’s final collection for the company.

“In thinking about my desire to move on, this seemed a good moment, coming upon the close of a year of positive momentum and growth,” said Kulson. “I thank [CEO] Andrew [Rosen] and everyone at Theory for their support and confidence in me from the outset. The opportunity to create product with such integrity has been one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences of my career thus far. I will always have a deep affection for the brand.”

Prior to Kulson’s departure, the Fast Retailing-owned label launched Theory 2.0, a 32-piece capsule collection targeted towards modern working women. The brand’s younger staff members inspired the new collection, which launched in July.
