Naruko, a major online cosmetic brand in Taiwan and China, said it wants to add 70 more stores across the Philippines, as it looks to expand its presence in the domestic beauty and skin care market.
“We are targeting 100 stores by the end of the year and also looking at the Cebu market,” Naruko general manager, Rachel Cheung told local media during the Beauty Industry Trade Meeting organized by Taiwan Trade Center Manila.
In 2010, the beauty brand was favored by over a billion online users in China, Cheung told The Manila Times.
Naruko was founded by beauty expert Niu Er, also known as Robin Niu or Niu Er Lao Shi, who is widely referred to in Taiwan as the 'beauty king'.
The brand offers better prices and trading terms for local farmers and workers, and incorporates Taiwanese plant extracts such as Taiwan Magnolia, Raw Job’s Tears and Djulis, into products, Cheung told media.
Naruko products are sold in China, Hong Kong, Macau, the U.S., Canada, Spain, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand.
In the Philippines, Naruko is the only Taiwan beauty brand being sold in the Watsons chain of stores.
