Shiseido Americas acquires MATCHCo

Shiseido Americas Corporation announced on Wednesday that it has acquired privately-held company and award-winning beauty App, MATCHCo.
 
Through its mobile app, MATCHCo technology allows customers to scan their skin tones and offers custom matching foundation options for each consumer.

Shiseido hopes that the synergy will allow the cosmetics company to capture a major consumer trend: cosmetics customization. The cosmetics company also expects their combined efforts to help advance its digital technologies aimed at consumer skin measurement and analysis, as well as improve its consumer marketing by gathering insight through direct contact.
 
"MATCHCo is a truly unique company with a transformational technology platform, go-to-market strategy and approach to engaging with consumers. We are very excited to leverage their technology and tools across Shiseido’s brand portfolio and continue to build on their innovation," says Shiseido Americas CEO Marc Rey.

MATCHCo was founded in 2013 by personalization and technology experts Dave Gross and Andy Howell. The app is currently distributed through Apple’s App Store and was featured as "Best New App" and "Best of November" at launch in November 2015
