Man suspends Tokyo edition

Published
Jun 8, 2015

While Paris and New York were sold out, the next Tokyo edition of Man will not even be held. The premium urban trade show launched by Anthony Floch, Olivier Migda and Romain Bernardie in Paris in 2012 has announced that it is being forced to cancel its most recent international endeavor in Japan.

In the auditorium Man Tokyo was held in February - Man Shows.

The trade show, which also includes a New York edition, has been held three times in the Japanese capital since it was launched in February 2014, but it won't be held there this July. Among other factors behind the decision: its close proximity on the calendar to New York Fashion Week and, as organizers have noted, their "brand community’s" loss of interest in the project.

The show wants to maintain a coherent selection similar to those for its Paris and New York shows and therefore prefers to cut short its Japanese venture. The fact that many Japanese buyers already turn up for the events in Europe and the US probably caused brands to prefer to focus on the two pre-existing shows.

The trade show has also launched its female counterpart, Woman, which is in the midst of preparations for its upcoming events in Paris from June 26-28 and in New York from July 20-22.
