Making the ordinary extraordinary: Tiffany adds to ‘Everyday Objects'

The renowned American jewelry house is adding to its collection of surprising "Everyday Objects" with new creations including a sterling silver ball of yarn, a first aid box and a tin can.

After trinket boxes, hefty paperweights and diamond rings, the prestigious American jewelry house Tiffany is intent on making the ordinary extraordinary with its "Everyday Objects" range, which is expanding for Holiday 2017. The line already includes a magnifying glass, salt & pepper shakers, and a lighter, all made from solid sterling silver.

The "Everyday Objects" range turns practical, day-to-day items into hand-crafted works of art, according to the brand. New items include a sterling silver tin can, selling for no less than $1,000, as well as three crazy drinking straws -- in silver, gold vermeil and rose gold vermeil, priced $250-$350.

Office coffee goes luxe with the brand's cups -- styled on classic paper cups -- available in sterling silver ($575) or bone china ($95 for two). Plus, cuts and grazes will feel much more prestigious when cleaned and dressed from a silver first aid box ($600).

There's even a silver ball of yarn, reimagined in handspun strands of textured sterling silver.

The jewellery company has, however, been roundly mocked on social media since the announcement of the can's addition to the line last week, with outspoken social media users branding it 'ridiculous'.
