Ohio-based department store chain Macy’s, Inc. announced on Wednesday that it has appointed 20-year industry veteran Naveen Krishna as its new chief technology officer.

Macy's

In his new role, Krishna will be responsible for the Macy’s technology strategy, driving the development of the company’s in-store, e-commerce and internal-facing technologies. He will also oversee teams involved in the retailer’s functional IT support, as well as in the creation of its end-to-end e-commerce experience, enterprise-shared services and field services.

He will be based at the Macy’s technology hub in Johns Creek, Georgia but will also spend time at the company’s technology centers in San Francisco and Lorain, Ohio. He will report to Macy’s President Hal Lawton.

Krishna joins the retailer from The Home Depot, where he was VP of technology, heading the company’s digital platforms, marketing tech and user experience design. He started at The Home Depot as senior director of information technology in 2010.

Prior to this, he served as a director at Target, where he was responsible for the operations of Target.com, and also spent 13 years in a range of leadership positions at FedEx Kinko's and Deloitte Consulting.

Krishna has Master’s degrees in Management and Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Missouri, respectively, and also holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from India’s Myore University.

“I'm thrilled to have Naveen Krishna join the Macy's team as we enhance our focus on technology,” said Hal Lawton in a press release. “We are investing in technology to improve digital and mobile experiences, site stability, store technology and fulfillment and logistics improvements. Naveen's track record in omni-channel retail makes him the perfect fit to lead the Macy's Technology organization at this critical time.”

Krishna’s appointment is effective June 16, 2018.
