Japanese creative agency Beams founds London subsidiary

Published

On November 10, Japanese creative agency Beams founded a subsidiary, Beams & Co, in London, England.

In addition to constructing new overseas business models that utilise both the experience and networks that Beams has cultivated in Japan, the company will build a foundation from which to launch new Japanese businesses overseas. These new business developments are designed to elevate the brand value of Beams in its entirety and act as a bridge between Japan and the rest of the world, the company said.

Until now, Beams has been holding joint overseas exhibitions as a select shop and aims to utilise the networks it has cultivated thus far for its new venture. Beams has provided support to the e-commerce site Mr Porter and introduced many Japanese brands to new, foreign markets and the brand said it was this workflow that led them to launch a UK subsidiary.

Beams & Co has four major business areas, one being “artist projects” which covers the management of both foreign and domestic artists and the realisation of their creative projects. The business’ “brand projects” arm will support Japanese brands with overseas expansion and help foreign brands to connect with the Japanese audience. The company will also focus on “overseas access for Japanese enterprises” and, through this, run creative projects to unite different cultures and bring Japanese culture to the rest of the world. Finally, Beams & Co will have a “media relations” team that works as shoot coordinators and producers.

Beams & Co has a capital of six million Japanese Yen. Eiji Kaneda, an Executive Officer and Director of the Corporate Planning Office, will concurrently serve as CEO.
