Chanel unveils the 'N°5 L'Eau' fragrance, embodied by Lily-Rose Depp

The French fashion label has unveiled the latest version of its iconic N° 5 fragrance, a decidedly fresh and contemporary one. Chanel has called on Lily-Rose Depp, its brand ambassador in the last few seasons, to showcase this new olfactory creation. 'Chanel N'°5 L'Eau' will be available from 2nd September.

After fragrance designers Ernest Beaux and Jacques Polge, who have both offered their interpretation of Chanel's emblematic fragrance, it is now Olivier Polge's turn to create his own N° 5 variant. The fashion label has stated that it is more than just another version of this iconic perfume.

"'N°5 L'Eau' is not an eau de cologne. It is by no means a watered-down version of the original fragrance since, for Chanel, each version is a genuine olfactory creation. 'N°5 L'Eau' is the contemporary N°5: a blend whose signature note is modernity and whose leitmotif is freshness." 

As the basis for his new fragrance, Olivier Polge decided to focus on aldehydes combined with citrus fruits (lemon, mandarin and orange) and with a floral bouquet (rose, oxygenated jasmine and ylang ylang). All of this is wrapped up with the sweetness of vetiver, cedar and musks.

Lily-Rose Depp, the icon of 'N°5 L'Eau'

In July 2015, Chanel announced its choice of Lily-Rose Depp as brand ambassador for the label's 'Perles' eyewear collection. The young girl, only 17, was therefore able to follow in the footsteps of her mother, Vanessa Paradis, who had been Chanel's brand ambassador from the early 1990s.

In the advertising campaign for 'N°5 L'Eau', the pretty blonde girl is almost disarmingly candid, wearing a natural hairstyle. Her deep gaze stares at the camera with great intensity.

The 'N°5 L'Eau de Chanel' perfume will be available from 2nd September.

The price is €68 for the 35 ml bottles (limited edition), €89 for the 50 ml and €126 for the 100 ml.
