Bottega Veneta to hold united men's-women's show for SS17

After Gucci, it is Bottega Veneta's turn to announce a single menswear/womenswear show. But in its case it will be an 'exceptional' show, the label has stated in a press release.

The Kering group's luxury label will not be showing at the Milan menswear Fashion Week in June, when it will be content to stage presentations by appointment, in order to concentrate on the September event: "a show bringing together its Spring-Summer 2017 womenswear and menswear collections."

Bottega Veneta thus wishes to celebrate a double anniversary: it is fifty years since its birth in Vicenza, in Italy's Veneto region, and fifteen since Tomas Maier was appointed Creative Director. The event will be held "at a specially-selected venue", on a date that is still to be communicated.

In the first quarter of 2016, the label's sales declined by 8.3% in like-for-like terms (-7.6% in published figures), and Bottega Veneta is seizing the opportunity to catch the media's attention via this special event. It will also be testing a new seasonal calendar, though the brand insisted on the mixed show's "exceptional" character.

In any case, Bottega Veneta has confirmed that it will not engage in a 'see now, buy now' approach. It will stick to "a presentation and launch calendar allowing the time required by the creation of collections consisting of exceptional items, employing artisanal craftsmanship, and which also contributes to encouraging the yearning before these collections reach the stores."
