Aesop opens largest European store in London's Sloane Square

Published

Cult Australian skincare brand Aesop has opened a store inspired by the opulent elegance of a classic James Bond film in London’s Duke of York Square.

Aesop

The new boutique is Aesop’s 200th in Europe and with 1,163 square feet of space, it is the largest Aesop site in Europe to date. Its design, created in partnership with long-term collaborators Snøhetta, features a dramatic ‘architectural tree’ in pale pink formed by 12 silhouette-like arches that curve up and across to the store’s perimeter.

The structure is surrounded by a large circular demonstration sink, with a shallow reflective pool at the edge, which is lit up by night to reflect the light shimmering on the water upon the walls.

Materials like steel and concrete subdivide the surface into smaller geometric components.

The beauty brand founded in 1987 in Melbourne has gained a cult following for its high-end skincare ranges and approach to design.

It has eight other signature stores in London, including shops in Covent Garden, Soho, Conduit Street, Marylebone, Islington, Shoreditch and Broadway Market.
